Hello and welcome to Elope Mendocino
One of our most thoughtful governors said it well: “I hold your life in my hands,
and you hold my life in yours.”
Sounds a bit like a committed marriage, doesn’t it? And, as the start to a good
marriage, it applies to the wedding ceremony, too. If you’re flexible and
communicate well, it’s most definitely possible to get married during this difficult
and confusing period, and to do it in an affordable, stress free, meaningful,
and yet elegant way.
If you are looking to elope or have a micro-wedding, you’ve come to the right
place. For almost eleven years, I have been helping couples marry in the
miraculously fresh air on the majestic Mendocino North Coast. In the myriad of
spectacular outdoor venues that I know so well, rest easily knowing that we can
all safely maintain effective social distancing throughout the ceremony without any
of you feeling uncomfortable or awkward (total 12 or less per present regulations).
When it’s time for the wedding dinner and champagne, if that’s included in
your package, I have long-established relationships with the best local
innkeepers and restaurants. I can make arrangements for dining (depending
on what has opened) or help with the options that are currently being offered,
all with the end goal of helping keep you and your dinner party safe, healthy
and relaxed. After your ceremony, photos, and dinner, you will be blissfully
on your own — goodbye, social distancing!
At this time, I am only able to officiate for California residents, but this is subject
to change at any time — check the Mendocino County and State of California
COVID-19 updates pages for the latest, and/or just contact me for help. Bookings
for mid to late fall or next year offer the best prospects that out-of-state couples
can wed on a chosen date.
For couples who reside in California, there is really no problem as long as your
group comprises 12 or less — that includes the photographer and officiate —
masks are worn, and those individuals who do not share a household or “bubble”
of trusted individuals remain safe distances from each other. (Of course, the
smaller your party, the safer everyone will be.) With one big “exception” —
the happy couple most definitely can exchange the traditional “first kiss!”

If you would like to share the joy with more than 10 others in your party besides
bride and groom, I urge you to look into live-streaming options. I suggest you
enlist a tech-savvy member of your wedding party to assist in setting up your
live stream. As an alternative, I can also help find videographers who are
proficient in both recorded and live-streamed video production.
A key point to keep in mind: things are changing by the hour, and as the already
low infection numbers on the Coast decline and the local
economy opens up, my promise is keep those that are booked with me
(or looking to book) informed to the best of my ability. A locally-sourced
wedding cake, photography, stunning bridal flowers, and sparkling wine are
just as available now as ever.
Lodging is the only issue that currently can be a challenge. If you have arranged
it on your own, wonderful! But do know I will do all I can to help resolve this
potential road-block, however I am obviously not able, or willing, to break any rules
in the process. I will also provide recommendations for local hair and makeup
stylists that are currently authorized to serve clients, albeit with some restrictions.
And finally, I kindly ask that you, and your family and guests, all be healthy and
free of known or suspected coronavirus symptoms for 14 days prior to your wedding.
I say thank you on behalf of myself and all my vendors — we greatly appreciate
your help in keeping all of us safe and healthy so that we may continue to marry
other couples here on our beautiful Mendocino North Coast.
